Earlier this week we announced one of our newest partnerships, now let’s introduce you to Red de Observadores de Aves y Vida Silvestre de Chile, or the ROC (find them on Twitter @ROC_CL). The ROC has been one of our longest and most prolific content partners since the launch of Birds of the World. Their team has revised and updated dozens of species accounts for the birds of Chile, of which 30 are already published. Here are just a few:

To celebrate our growing partnership, this Tuesday, the ROC will host a webinar, featuring our very own Tom Schulenberg, BOW science editor, who will provide an overview of the platform, with Fernando Medrano (@FmedranoM), the technical and scientific advisor of ROC, who will discuss what the partnership means for Chilean birds and birders, and Javiera Ferreyra (@jaferreyrab), director of Audubon Chile, who will demonstrate how BOW can be utilized for conservation planning. A very special announcement about access to Birds of the World will be delivered.

This interesting discussion is entitled ‘Lanzamiento Acceso Abierto A Birds of the World Para Chile’ and will be live this Tuesday, 13 September, at 18:00 (Chilean time) on YouTube. Click here and ask to be pre-notified.

We thank executive director Ivo Tejeda (@ivonicolas) and the rest of the team at Red de Observadores de Aves y Vida Silvestre de Chile for working with us to expand and document what is known about the birds of Chile. United, we can make a difference for science and conservation.
