Ornithological Note 28
On 31 Oct 2007, together with other observers, I watched a female Black-throated Brilliant (Heliodoxa schreibersii) at a nest with eggs in the understorey of terra firme forest at Shiripuno Lodge, Napo province, eastern Ecuador. The nest was sited c. 1 m above ground in an understorey sapling and was a typical hummingbird construction, but was only observed at some distance (to avoid disturbance), making it impossible to provide more details. This is outside the known breeding period according to the original text of the Handbook of the Birds of the World.
