On 13 May 1971, in the reedbed at La Capelle (Gard department, SE France), a male Little Bittern (Ixobrychus minutus) flew into land and moved down the reed, at which point a female appeared on a nearby stalk. On approaching closer, we could see a nest of Little Grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis) at the base of the reed and that both herons were eating the eggs!
