Pedro Jordano July 10, 2013
Country: Spain
Section(s): reintroductions, Status and Conservation

The reintroduction plan for the Northern Bald Ibis (Geronticus eremita) in southern Spain started in 2004, including up to 214 individuals. First breeding in the wild was recorded in 2008 on the cliffs W of Barbate, in Cádiz province. Now a well established colony, with up to 24 adults breeds along three cliffs in the proximities of Vejer.

RG Costales blog  reports the color rings of adult birds in the colony, as well as information of observed copulations.
