Peru; Vitoc Valley, Junin, proposed by Hellmayr, 1929, Field Mus. Nat. Hist., Zool. Ser., 13, pt. 6, p. 99 for this form as republished by Tschudi, 1846, Unters. Faun. Peru., Aves, p. 137, under the name Ampelion rufaxilla; this restriction hereby adopted for the original citation (J. T. Z.).
