Introduction

Endemic to the island of Hispaniola. It occurs more widely in the Dominican Republic though it is thought to remain abundant in some parts of Haiti. The range is generally restricted to the hills and mountains of Hispaniola with several early records near sea level in Haiti (1). There are recent observational records in eBird for Massif de la Hotte and La Visite in Haiti and from Sierra de Bahoruco, Sierra de Neiba, Cordillera Central, and Loma Quita Espuela in the Dominican Republic.
