Aves Argentinas

ABOUT

Aves ArgentinaFor more than 100 years, Aves Argentinas has been the national organization that protects wild birds and nature in Argentina. We are members of BirdLife International, the world’s largest network of nature conservation organizations. We work to protect more than 1,000 wild bird wild birds and their habitats through conservation, research, and education projects, guided by researchers, technicians and aided by a wide network of volunteers and more than 100 bird clubs.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

  • We identify, monitor and restore important areas for bird conservation. We protect sites and promote the care of these key biodiversity areas, promoting public policies and generating urban reserves and National Parks. We carry out habitat conservation projects in Patagonia, the Atlantic Forest and the Pampas.
  • We work to prevent species extinction. In recent years we have actively worked on the conservation of threatened species such as the Lobster Harrier, the Collared Yetapá (Strange-tailed Tyrant), the Tobiano Macá (Hooded Grebe), the Yellow Thrush (Yellow-legged Thrush) the Black-browed Albatross and the Yellow Cardinal, among others.
  • We teach courses aimed at raising awareness and achieving behavioral changes in society. We develop scientific publications and studies on the conservation status of birds.
  • We promote nature tourism as a driver of economic development. Through initiatives such as the Grassland Alliance and the Albatross Task Force we promote sustainable grassland livestock and methods to mitigate the impact of fisheries in seabirds, respectively.
