Introduction
A native of Madrid, Alfredo Salvador, Ph. D. Universidad Complutense, Madrid 1979, has been professor at the Universities Autónoma of Madrid and León. Much of his career has been spent as a researcher in herpetology at the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (CSIC), Madrid. Throughout his career he has had a great interest in scientific dissemination, both of amphibians and reptiles and of other vertebrates of Spain. He has published several field guides on amphibians and reptiles and has been co-editor, editor, and author of species accounts in the Enciclopedia Virtual de los Vertebrados Españoles.
